Specification
ICUMSA 45 refined white cane sugar. Moisture 0.04% maximum, ash 0.04% maximum, sparkling white free-flowing crystal, granulation 0.6 to 0.8 mm.
On ICUMSA grades
ICUMSA measures colour, and colour is the proxy for refinement. 45 is standard refined white. 100 and 150 are visibly duller and it shows immediately in a glass of shaax.
Origin and price
Brazilian cane sets the world price. Indian sugar is competitive on freight into the Gulf of Aden but subject to export policy, so we hold contracts across both.
Caking and storage
Coastal humidity will cake a badly stored pallet inside a month. We use raised pallets, sealed bays, and stacking within the bag rating.
