Six controls, twice inspected
A specification is a promise. These are the six places we check that the promise held, from the contract through to the pallet in the bay.
Specification agreed before price
Every line has a written specification with numbers in it, agreed before we contract. A quotation that does not state the grade is not a quotation you can compare.
Certificate of analysis on every lot
The refinery or mill states the figures for the lot being shipped, not a typical range for the product.
Independent pre-shipment inspection
The declared figures, the packing and the loaded quantity are confirmed by an inspector who does not work for the seller, before the container is sealed.
Inspection again on discharge
Jerrycan seal integrity, pasta breakage, bag condition and moisture are checked against what left the origin. The voyage is where condition is lost, so that is where we look.
Production date recorded, not assumed
We buy flour on milling date and rice on crop year, and we state the remaining shelf life on the delivery note. The date printed on a bag is not always the date it was made.
Storage discipline in the warehouse
Raised pallets, sealed bays, stacking inside the bag rating and first in, first out picking. Coastal humidity will cake a badly stored pallet of sugar inside a month.
